Other Residential Products
It's time to expect more from your heating and cooling system. Backed by over 90 years of industry-leading innovation, engineering, and manufacturing excellence, we're using superior, patented technology that removes more airborne allergens from the filtered air in your home than any other air cleaning system. It's called TRANE CleanEffects -- and it's only from TRANE.
Enjoy up to 99.98% cleaner air
How does Trane CleanEffects stack up against other air cleaners? TRANE CleanEffects utilizes patented breakthrough technology to remove up to an astounding 99.98% of airborne allergens from the air that passes through the filter, making it 8 times more effective than even the best HEPA filters and 100 times more effective than an ionic-type room appliance or a standard 1" filter — the kind found in 85% of homes.
What's more, TRANE CleanEffects has been performance tested by LMS Technologies and Environmental Health & Engineering, Inc., with the results verified by professors from the Harvard School of Public Health, so you know you're getting an expert air-filtration system like no other.
Just how clean is TRANE CleanEffects?
Many products claim to effectively clean your indoor air, but which ones really work. Comparing the clean air delivery rate (CADR) is a great place to start. This standard has been recognized by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a fair and objective comparison of various air cleaning technologies.
The clean air delivery rate is the volume of clean air a system will deliver into your home. Two factors affect this rating—the efficiency of the filter material and the amount of air that passes through the device. The more effective the air cleaning system, the higher the clean air delivery rate. When comparing air cleaners of any kind, ask your dealer or retailer for the clean air delivery rate for that type of air cleaner, and then compare it to the rating for Trane CleanEffects™. How clean is clean? Trane CleanEffects™ delivers 8 times the amount of clean air as the typical room HEPA appliance, and 100 times the amount delivered by an ionic-type room appliance or a standard 1" filter — the kind found in 85% of homes.
Clean air delivery rate is a fair comparison of a typical three-ton whole house heating and cooling system and stand-alone air cleaning appliances.
TRANE CleanEffects is so effective that it traps allergens down to .3 microns. .3 microns is the size at which allergens cause the most irritation because your nose, mouth, and throat can't filter them, and they get trapped deep in your lungs, is so small that about 14,000 of these particles could fit on the period at the end of this sentence. Furthermore, if you install TRANE CleanEffects into a system that features a variable-speed fan motor, you'll be able to kill dust mites by keeping the air at below 50% relative humidity, which helps make your home even more allergen free.
More than clean air
Trane CleanEffects™, when installed, is part of your heating and air conditioning comfort system and does not require a separate fan. It is not a noisy or intrusive standalone appliance. What you get is quiet and efficient operation, and clean air throughout the whole house.
Other benefits include:
- Minimal cleaning
- Indicators that remind you of routine cleaning, which is as easy as vacuuming or rinsing after 3 to 9 months (depending on usage)
- Innovative materials that increase efficiency by increasing filter surface area without blocking airflow
- Easy installation
Study Reveals Trane CleanEffects™ Removes More Than 99 Percent of the Influenze Virus
Jan. 10, 2007 – During flu season and throughout the year, families are exposed to viruses that circulate in the air they breathe indoors, so taking measures to prevent illness makes sense. Getting a flu shot, eliminating germs on surfaces through cleaning, and washing hands often are important steps to avoid getting the flu. Yet, many people are still susceptible to the virus in the air in their home. The main way influenza viruses are spread is from person-to-person in respiratory droplets of coughs or sneezes 1. Now, first-of-its-kind research conducted by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health, in collaboration with scientists at Environmental Health and Engineering Inc., (EH&E) shows that Trane CleanEffectsTM, a whole-house air filtration system, removes more than 99 percent of the common flu, or influenza A virus from the filtered air.
Because of the similarities among types of influenza viruses, Harvard and EH&E researchers concluded that Trane CleanEffects will remove more than 99 percent of other forms of the virus, including influenza B, influenza C and avian influenza (also a strain of influenza A virus) from the filtered air. The tests involved releasing the common flu virus into the air inside a test heating, ventilation, and air conditioning duct. The removal efficiency was calculated from the amount of the common flu virus measured in air samples collected before and after passing through the Trane CleanEffects system. "By removing the vast majority of the common flu virus from a home's re-circulated air, the average airborne concentration of the virus in the home is reduced, thereby lowering airborne exposure to the virus for household occupants," said Dr. David MacIntosh, instructor at the Harvard Extension School, and principal scientist at EH&E.
Trane has received Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) registration from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Trane is the clear industry leader in EPA compliance for FIFRA as the first whole-house air cleaner to obtain a FIFRA registration number.
"In a home with central forced air and a conventional 1-inch filter, the average virus particle would be re-circulated through the home about seven times before depositing on a surface or being transported outdoors. That's more than enough time to breathe in the virus, and cleaning the air in your home is an important step to improve the health of your home environment," said MacIntosh. "People with allergies and asthma are potentially at a greater risk of catching the airborne flu virus. Additionally, patients with asthma may have a more severe course of the flu because of their underlying airway damage. For this reason, we recommend that anyone with asthma take all measures to prevent acquiring the flu. These test results are very important because they demonstrate that installing a whole-house air cleaner, such as Trane CleanEffects, can add another layer of protection against the flu for patients with allergies and asthma," said Dr. Paula Busse, M.D., allergy and immunology specialist, Mount Sinai Medical Center. Trane CleanEffects utilizes patented breakthrough air cleaning technology to eliminate allergens and particles you don't want in your home, such as dust, pollen, bacteria, pet dander, mold spores, smoke, and now the common flu virus. It even removes particles as small as .1 microns – 1/1,000th the diameter of a human hair – the size that eludes most air cleaners. To put this in perspective when it comes to the common flu, a single influenza virus is around .1 micron in diameter. Trane CleanEffects is 100 times more effective than the standard 1-inch filter found in most home central systems, removing up to 99.98 percent of airborne particles and more than 99 percent of the common flu virus from the filtered air.
